This is a first for the Queen of Swing™ Kelli Grant & the Texas Playboys. It's not really a big deal but thenagain it is. The fact is, NO WOMAN had ever fronted the Texas Playboys since their inception in 1935. Well, it's very simple. Bob Wills owned the band and he fronted it. When he died Betty Wills, his widow put the guys out on the road with Leon McAuliffe fronting the band. But the name was owned by Carl Johnson, owner of the Reo Palm Isle in Longview, Tx. So the name was dormant for a few years before Casey Dickens was given the name, signed document by Carl. And Casey gave it to Leon Rausch and Tommy Allsup who awarded the name to Jason Roberts.
